用法：
1、devote的基本意思是因特殊用处或目的而心甘情愿地献出某物,即“把…奉献,把…专用于”,常表示由于如同起誓般紧迫的动机而放弃和献出。
2、devote是及物动词,常接时间、精力、生命等抽象名词作宾语,而“专用”和“奉献”的'对象则由介词to引出。
He is devoting his ability in his station.
他在自己的岗位上默默地奉献自己的才华。
She devoted her young life.
她献出了年轻的生命。
3、表示“忠于”“致力于”“献身于”时可用devote oneself to结构,也可用be devoted to结构。
（1）devote sth to sb/sth/v-ing
Now she devoted most of the time to this work.
现在她把大部分时间都用在这项工作上了。
She devoted her life to the cause of peace.
她把一生献给了和平事业。
（2）devote oneself/sb to sb/sth/v-ing
He devotes himself to his sick wife.
他专心照顾着他生病的妻子。
He devoted himself to his lessons.
他专心致力于功课。
