What is family ?
Everybody has his own family. What is family ? I don’t think everyone really knows. There are six letters in the word “ FAMILY ”. I think “ F ” means “father”, “A” means “and”, “ M ” means “mother” , “ I ” means“ I”, “ L” means “ love” and “ Y ” means “you”. So “ FAMILY ” is the short form of “ Father and mother , I love you.” Don’t you think so ? Father and mother love us , and we love father and mother .
That’s a happy family.
The funniest thing about our family is the draughts contest. After dinner, Dad would always play the board and shout, "good girl, play chess."!" Heard the cry, I will say: "to drawl...... You......"
The rules of the game are like this: my father and I are a team, mom team, the three game two wins, the lost group of dishes. My dad and mom was always defeated, so are the dishes I and Daddy "contract".
Today, the first Bureau by my mom and dad gave me the first, when the advisor at the side". I changed the route of the March, went around and tried not to bypass each other". The mother lost the game.
The second game is between father and mother, and I work for my father as a staff member. Mother's anxious face flushed, confused, and finally lost to Dad by two steps. I jumped three feet high: "we won!"! We won at last!" Dad was also happy to dance like a child, laughing, and her mother was unconvinced: "today we let you, do not be complacent, and tomorrow, wait and see."!" As he walked toward the kitchen.

The table gives information about poverty rates among six types of household in Australia in the year 1999.
It is noticeable that levels of poverty were higher for single people than for couples, and people with children were more likely to be poor than those without. Poverty rates were considerably lower among elderly people.
Overall, 11% of Australians, or 1,837,000 people, were living in poverty in 1999. Aged people were the least likely to be poor, with poverty levels of 6% and 4% for single aged people and aged couples respectively.
Just over one fifth of single parents were living in poverty, whereas only 12% of parents living with a partner were classed as poor. The same pattern can be seen for people with no children: while 19% of single people in this group were living below the poverty line, the figure for couples was much lower, at only 7%.(150 words, band 9)

As can be seen from the picture, the department in a store which sells nutritive products for children is surrounded by crowds of parents, making the salespeople extremely busy. In contrast, the neighboring department that sells similar products for the elderly seems rather deserted by customers. Its saleswoman feels so bored that she can not resist falling asleep.
The picture mirrors a common social phenomenon from a unique angle — people tend to care more for the next generation than the previous one. On the one hand, young couplesdote on children, most of whom are the “only children”. Parents endeavor to prepare their kids for a bright future by raising them healthily. On the other hand, young couples fail to spend time with their old parents, and some of them are even too mean to provide the old with at least a decent living environment.
I think such a trend is quite abnormal and distressing. Filial duty used to be the most highly prized virtue among the Chinese for over two thousand years. Busy as people are, the duty should not be easily shirked. Supplying our old parents with material and emotional supports is not only a repayment to them, but can also set a good example to educate the youth.
