  荆棘鸟英语读后感 1

After reading this book I think it is necessary to share the old legend to everybody .

There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out- carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain …

Meggie Cleary is just like the bird, and Ralph is her superlative song.

I read the book then watched the movie, both of them gave me great shock, I really admire Meggie, she had the courage to use her whole life to love Ralph, never gave up. She believed that she would love Ralph only in her life. But I don’t like Meggie’s attitude to love, Ralph is a Father, and he mustn’t love Meggie, they really loved each other, but they are not destined to be together. So in my opinion I think Meggie should give in, she shouldn’t fight with God, Ralph had told her he would serve God forever, so Meggie wouldn’t win. Maybe giving up is a good choice. Their love is painful.

Tell the turth I don’t like Meggie neither Ralph, Ralph could not give Meggie happniess while Meggie couldn’t support Ralph to concentrate on his work. So they would not have happy life, they only made each other feel sad .

Frank is my favorite role. he was short but strong ,and he was one of the main labor in his family. He didn’t want to be a shepherd, but the family needed him , and he must feed he the sheep so that everybody in his family can live better. Once he escaped from home , but it wassn’t long before his father found him and take him home. I feel so sorry that he had a miserable fate. He longed for freedom but most of his life didn’t belong to himself, it’s really a pity .

Frank was different to every man in their home, he loved his mother deeply, and he always helped his mother do the housework. he dreamed to be an outstanding boxer. Frank was considerable, and he always try his best to make Meggie feel happy. As Meggie’s oldest brother, he could be worried about Meggie’s favorite doll, and he even tried to fixed the doll which was distroyed by Meggie’s other brothers. Frank and Meggie would always tell each other what they thought in their deep heart , and they are close friends.

I was so sad when I learned that Frank killed a man and he was sent to the prision. It is really a big shock to Meggie, for Frank was the only one who can listen to Meggie’s secrets. She thought she lost Frank forever. I cannot imagine how painful for Frank to spend dozens years in the prision. He once had good dream about his life, but he had to waste most of his life in prision. In my opinion it was Frank’s father that distoryed his life. His father didn’ t give him freedom, and Frank can’t had strong resistance spirits, and because he didn’t control himself and broke the law.The energitic Frank will never come to us, and he became a man who didn’t wanna talk. He began to be afraid of the world…it is really a pity.

As for Meggie, I think she was a good girl. She was beautiful and smart, but she it was wrong for her to love Ralph. Meggie was an excellent girl, she was able to find an outstanding boy to love her, but she put all her love on Ralph even she married Luke. She married Luke just because Luke looked like Ralph. Meggie wanna be a thorn bird, but I think it was too cruel to her. She was so kind that she shouldn’t stand that king of pain, and I think she was born to have a happy life. I pity for her.

Both the story of thorn birds and the legend are painful and beautiful, but not every one can be the thorn birds, because it is not our porpose to have a painful life. We are born to be happy. Olny happiness is the ture meaning of life while the story was written for us to enrich our life. It is a wonderful story.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 2

A decade ago, on a boring vacation, I casually brought a thick book that was attracted by its title. I just kept reading like this. In retrospect, it was a soap opera that passed the time, and it was also a young age that could not understand the authors intention. Years later, it was discovered that this book held an important position in the Western literary world since its release in 1977. It revolves around the love story between the female protagonist Meggie and Father Ralph, depicting the rise and fall of the Cliff family for half a century. It also enjoys the reputation of "Gone with the Wind" in Australia.

I flipped through this book this time and quickly flipped through it. This book has a strong flavor of frontier literature, similar to the American writer Jack Londons depiction of Alaskas American frontier literature. Perhaps because the storytelling takes place in borderlands far from the center of the world and the center of civilization. Although both modern Australian and American writers have writing styles originating from British English literature, they are completely different. Without the glamorous rhetoric and rhetoric of British literature. Replace with simple and unadorned words and phrases that are close to life. Just like Mark Twain, Jack London, Hemingway, and the author of this book, Colin McCullough, they all come from the bottom of society. Following the authors brushstrokes, it presents readers with a charming rural scenery of Australia.

The title of this book is most accurately explained by the authors statement in the book: "We each have something in our hearts that we dont want to abandon, even if it causes us to suffer to death. We are like the Thornbird in the ancient Celtic legend, crying with blood and vomiting a bloody heart and dying. We create our own thorns and never calculate their costs. All we do is endure the agony of pain and tell ourselves its worth it."

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 3

Ralph found Meggie, who was traveling alone during a vacation. The flame of love ignited the two and they abandoned the shackles of God and spirit and walked together. In just two days, Meggie obtained the seed of Ralph, and then gave birth to Ralphs son. However, Meggie concealed the truth from Ralph until her son became an adult and chose to be a messenger of God. Meggie reluctantly sent him to Ralphs side.

From beginning to end, Ralph did not know that the young man with the same face as him was his son, but Ralph loved Meggie and so did Meggies son, who took great care of this young man. Unfortunately, my son drowned in a rescue attempt. Ralph escorted his sons body back to Meggies side, and when he found out the truth, he died in pain in Meggies arms······

A love novel full of sadness has come to an end, and after reading it, there are many emotions. When love and desire are presented to you, do you choose the former or the latter? Can you guarantee that you wont regret it for a lifetime after choosing?

The last paragraph in the book was written very well, and I am now excerpting it here for everyone to slowly understand.

The bird has thorns on its chest and follows an unchangeable rule. She was pierced by something unknown, driven away, singing and dying. In the moment when the thorns pierced, she didnt realize the arrival of death. She just sang and sang until her life was exhausted and she could no longer sing a single note. But when we prick the thorns into our chest, we know. We are clear and honest. However, we still need to do so. We still prick the thorns into our chests.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 4

Thornbird is a classic love story, perhaps because it is a tragic love story - destined from the moment they meet (Ralph and Meggie).

Firstly, Ralph, he was a faithful priest to God, a man, a man with all his needs. The external and internal beauty of a man lies in him, portrayed to the fullest, even making the world, including God, jealous and insane. He suppressed his emotions for his ideals, but when he met Meggie, this emotion slowly recovered and even went against Gods will. He searched for every opportunity to stay with Meggie, but witnessed her physical maturity and changes. His emotions grew stronger and he tried to suppress them, so he struggled with God in contradiction and pain.

Mary is the largest beneficiary of Florida. Carsons death, a will, completely brought Ralph to the so-called Gods side. Ralph couldnt, nor could he estimate how much Marys property and rights would cover, so he once proposed to Mary, to an elderly woman who had been widowed for many years, but the proposal failed, so without the support of a consortium, the Cardinals dream was still far away. But Mary caught a glimpse of Ralph liking and loving Meggie, deeply hurting her, so she used her last will to forcefully control Ralph because she knew a mans needs, power, and career always came first.

Ralph fulfilled his wish and went to Rome and the Vatican to pursue his great cause. But the matter is far from over, the contradiction and pain continue because he is still a man, an emotional man, so his life is constrained. I think it is not until the moment he dies that he is accepted and forgiven by God. Ralph is a priest, a man, a beautiful man, an incarnation of light, or a hypocrite, as everyone says.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 5

Diligent learning can lead to a willingness to teach. Whenever we see a good book, we cant help but record our inner inspiration and feelings. We can read through the shocking words of meditation and touching the soul from the work, as well as the words of touching and touching the soul from the work.

In fact, we can deeply understand this pain from the authors opening remarks. There is a legend that there is a bird that sings only once in its lifetime, more beautiful than the songs of all living creatures in the world. From the moment it left its nest, it searched for the thorn tree until it achieved its wish and finally rested. Then, it tied its body to the longest and sharpest thorns and let go of its singing on the branches of the wilderness. In its dying moments, it transcended its own pain, and its song overshadowed the larks and nightingales. This is a very beautiful song that ultimately leads to death. However, the whole world is listening quietly, and God is smiling in the sky. Because the best things can only be exchanged for deep pain and great trauma... Anyway, thats what the legend says Every time I savor this passage, I cant help but immerse myself in it and cannot extricate myself.

The novel is a classic love story, perhaps because it is a tragic love story - destined from the moment they (Ralph and Meggie) meet. In my opinion, the biggest highlight of this book "Thornbird" is its vivid character description. From the Philippines to Meggie, and then to Justin, the author presents to readers the tragic or tumultuous fate of women, as well as their inner struggles and pains; From Paddy to Ralph, and then to Ryan, three generations of men have different interpretations of love; From Frank to Dane, the most popular child was left behind by his mother but fooled by God... Touching love starts from the door, extends to religion, and erupts in the city. I cannot help but admire the authors efforts in conceptualizing and portraying

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 6

Last summer, a friend introduced Colin. I read the book "Thornbird" written by McCullough, intermittently for a long time, until I finished reading it in the last few days.

There is a bird in the world that sings only once in its lifetime. It spends its entire life searching for the most beautiful and robust thorn, and when it finds it, it presses itself heavily, letting the thorn pierce through its broad chest. In that moment, it sings loudly, accompanied by its pain and joy, and its happiness and satisfaction. Slowly and slowly, the bird begins to bleed, but it does not stop singing at all. The song becomes even more poignant and beautiful.

This bird is called the Thorn Bird.

Its singing makes all singing birds feel ashamed of themselves, and the skylark and nightingale, who have always compared themselves to the king of songs, also pale in front of its singing. Soon, the birds blood ran out, and the most beautiful song came to an abrupt end. However, the whole world is listening quietly, and God is smiling in the sky. All the people and birds who hear the song are paying their final respects to the Thornbird, because everyone knows that the most beautiful thing can only be exchanged with deep pain and great trauma

After reading this story, I have been pondering: the Thornbird knows, searching for the Thornbird tree means searching for death, the end of life, and enduring pain that even life cannot bear. However, it also knows that only by enduring this immense pain can one sing the most beautiful song.

Im thinking, am I willing to be that Thornbird? If I were the Thorn Bird, would I be willing to search for the Thorn Tree? If I find a thorn tree, will I fall on the sharpest and longest thorn tree?

I dare not say, but I know some people are willing to be Thornbirds, and like Thornbirds, they have left us with the most beautiful songs.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 7

The Thornbird follows an unchangeable fate, pierced through its body, driven away, singing and dying. In my opinion, the prickly bird sacrificed itself for singing, blindly for singing, and what about humans? Human beings are blind to love.

Just like natural laws, no one can control their emotions. But even if people from two worlds meet and are tempted, what happens?

But when we pierce the thorns into our chests, we know that we are innocent, but fate is like this. Who can change what it determines? Although Meggie understood it herself, she still risked everything to get Dane, but she did not change her fate. Dane died, Laval died, and in the end, as an elderly woman, she could only live alone, with building materials, but no one to accompany her. If we could give up, give up our love for Laval, things wouldnt develop like this. In contrast, Meggies mother is pure and beautiful.

But if you like someone, does that mean giving up means you can give up?

Just like White Snake and Xu Xian, he knew clearly that humans and demons have different paths, but she still chose emotions. Others may think White Snake is too foolish and infatuated, but in my opinion, she is brave. If the Thorn Bird doesnt prick its chest with thorns, it wont be called Thorn Bird anymore.

Look at Zixia and Zhizunbao. The poignant love story has not only dampened the tears of many lovers, but every story of extreme love has an insurmountable barrier. Because love is to the extreme, there is no fear, so love is to the extreme.

Having seen through the rules and tricks of life, we continue to do so, piercing thorns into our chests.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 8

After eighteen years, I picked up the book "Thorn Bird" again, whether it was to commemorate my time as a teacher or to listen to the voice of a bird. Eighteen years ago, I only knew it was a sad song of love, but at that time, my heart was deeply touched. So when we started communicating again, I couldnt wait to read her again. Fortunately, my friend borrowed this book that I had been wanting to read but didnt have the chance to read.

Carefully savored the famous Australian writer Colin. McCulloughs novel "The Thorn Bird", with its poetic depiction of the environment, vivid portrayal of characters, and beautiful and poignant love songs, deeply attracted and moved me. But what deeply touches the reading notes is still the pain, the helplessness, the helplessness caused by oneself, just like the Thorn Bird, the reason why it hurts is because it has found the thorns.

In fact, we can deeply understand this pain from the authors opening words. "There is a legend that says there is a bird that only sings once in its life, and its song is more beautiful and melodious than the songs of all living beings in the world. From the moment it leaves its nest, it searches for the thorny tree until it achieves its wish and finally rests. Then, it pricks its body into the longest and sharpest thorns, and opens its throat to the question of the wild branches. In its dying moment, it transcends its own pain, and that song makes the lark and nightingale both feel relieved." Disappointed. This is an immensely beautiful song, and the song ends in exhaustion. However, the whole world is listening quietly, and God is smiling in the sky. Because the most beautiful things can only be exchanged for deep pain and great trauma... Anyway, thats how the legend goes Every time I savor this passage, I cant help but immerse myself in it and cannot extricate myself.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 10

Thornbird is a novel by the famous Australian author Colin McCullough. The novel tells the love story of a family of three generations, with the main plot being the tragic love story between Meggie and Ralph. The author uses a flat writing style to portray the fate of the Cleary family and related characters, and the plot is full of ups and downs, gripping.

Ralph, a person who dedicates both his body and soul to God, and a person who pursues becoming a Cardinal in his life, cannot talk about love. He did it before meeting Meggie, but at the moment he met her, his heart underwent a huge transformation. As Meggie grew up, their relationship deepened, and conflicts and pains grew day by day. In the end, Ralph chose his church and moved away from Meggie. God played tricks on people, but after Meggie got married, they reunited again, and Ralph also gave way to emotions with reason. They had their own son, and Meggie left her husband as a result. However, her son left her forever, followed by Ralphs departure. Meggie, this infatuated woman, will live her life alone.

After reading this book, I couldnt help but think: can only beautiful things be exchanged for the deepest pain of great trauma or even life? Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai in China, Cowherd and Weaver Girl, Romeo and Juliet in foreign countries, Scarlett and Rhett are all like this. So, when we encounter such a situation, do we need an unforgettable love, but have to endure hardships, or do we need a calm and calm emotion to live a mediocre life? I think it shouldnt be difficult for us to solve this problem anymore, because we live in a good era and are happy modern people.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 11

The Thornbird is a peculiar creature that only sings once in its lifetime. Since leaving Nestle, I have been persistently searching for the thorn tree. When it finally achieved its wish, it plunged its petite body into the longest and sharpest thorn, singing loudly with blood and tears. Meggie is such a woman.

When Meggies family was feeling down and down, they traveled far and wide to the home of Aunt Meggie in Drogheda. Pastor Ralph showed great affection for this little girl, and Meggie was still young that year. As Meggie grew year after year, their relationship gradually deepened. Unfortunately, Ralph is a priest and they cannot be together. Afterwards, Meggie met Luke, who looked very similar to Ralph in appearance. Under Lukes pursuit, he finally agreed to get married, and Luke only valued Meggies money, so his life after marriage was not happy. Until one day, Ralph, whom she could never forget, walked into her life and left behind a child for her, their child - Dane.

I just want to go all out, like Meggie, to pursue what I want and love. No matter how hard or difficult it may be, sing the most beautiful song in the world with the deepest pain like a thorn bird. Dane eventually became a priest, but was engulfed by seawater while on vacation in Greece to save two girls. This ending was not what Meggie wanted, but she found true love and gave it, and she didnt regret it. Meggie said: Everything was caused by myself, I dont hold any grudges against anyone, I cant have a moment of regret. Should we be as resilient and brave as her. Be open to your past happiness in the face of misfortune.

"The Thorn Bird" is a song composed by Meggie with her life.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 12

Thornbird is a novel written by contemporary Australian author Colin McCullough.

The work revolves around the love entanglement between the female protagonist Meggie and the priest Ralph, depicting the story of three generations of the Cleary family, spanning over half a century. Ralph longed for the power of the church, but fell in love with the beautiful girl Meggie from the Cleary family. For the sake of his pursuit of "God", he abandoned secular love, but his heart was extremely conflicted and painful. With this as the center, the joys and sorrows of more than ten members of the Cleary family were also showcased. This work is known as "Gone with the Wind" in Australia.

There is a legend about a bird that sings only once in its lifetime, and its voice is more beautiful and melodious than that of all living beings in the world. From the moment it left its nest, it searched for the thorn tree until it achieved its wish and finally stopped.

The novel is a classic love story, and perhaps it is because it is a cup of love - a cup of love that has been destined since the moment the two (Ralph and Meggie) meet. In my opinion, the biggest highlight of the book "Thorn Bird" lies in its vivid character descriptions. From Fei to Meggie, and then to Zhu Siting, the author presents to readers the tragic or tumultuous destinies of girls, as well as their inner struggles of pain; From Paddy to Ralph, and then to Ryan, it showcases three generations of boys with different interpretations of love; From Frank to Dane, the most favored child was tried to keep by his mother but fooled by God... Emotional emotions spread from family to religion, erupting in the city. I have to admire the authors efforts in conceptualizing and portraying.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 13

Suddenly remembered a novel I had read, "Thorn Bird.".

I noticed this book because in high school, my Chinese teacher (homeroom teacher) read us a sentence:

There is a legend that there is a bird that sings only once in its lifetime, and its voice is more beautiful and melodious than the songs of all living beings in the world. From the moment she left the nest, she searched for the thorn tree until her wish was fulfilled. Then, she plunged her body into the longest and sharpest thorn, and let go of her singing voice among the wild branches. In his dying moments, he transcended his own pain, and the song overshadowed both the lark and the nightingale. This is an immensely beautiful song, and the song ends in exhaustion. However, the whole world is listening quietly, and God is smiling in the sky. Because the most beautiful things can only be exchanged with deep pain and great trauma.

When the teacher finished reading this paragraph, I felt that I also wanted to be a thorn bird, capable of creating incredibly beautiful things and dedicating my life to it. It was such a joyful and great thing. Only in this way can life be comparable to the blue sky and commensurate with freedom.

There are several attractive aspects to this article.

Meggie and her mother have very similar destinies, with a son she loves so much and a daughter she doesnt want to face, and their sons ultimately end up dying in a tragic way.

Once again, Meggies relationship with Father Ralph is not the type I like. The Thornbird movie (I cant remember which year it was) shifted its focus towards Ralph. But I believe that love is not right or wrong, they dont want to hurt anyone, but they have to hurt. Moreover, love is a matter for two people.

The person who left a deep impression on me is the son of Meggie and Ralph. He is like a transparent water ball, crystal clear and beautiful, like a masterpiece of nature. Its just shattered too early. As Lu Xun said, tragedy is tearing up beautiful things for people to see.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 14

During winter vacation, my friend introduced me to the book "Thornbird" written by Colin McCullough. I watched it intermittently for a long time, until I finished in the last few days.

There is a bird in the world that sings only once in its lifetime. He spent his whole life searching for the most beautiful and strong thorn. When he found it, he pressed himself hard, letting the thorn pierce through his broad chest. At that moment, he sang loudly, accompanied by his own pain and happiness, as well as his own happiness and satisfaction. Slowly, slowly, the bird began to bleed, but it never stopped singing.

This type of bird is called the Thorn Bird.

Its singing makes all singing birds feel ashamed, and the skylark and nightingale, who have always compared themselves to the king of songs, also pale in front of its singing. Soon, the little birds blood flowed out, and its most beautiful song came to an abrupt end. However, the whole world listened quietly, and God smiled in the sky. All the people and birds who hear this song are paying their final respects to the Thornbird, because everyone knows that the best things can only be exchanged with deep pain and great trauma

After reading this story, I have been pondering: the Thornbird knows that searching for thorns is searching for death, which means the end of life and the suffering that even life cannot bear. However, it also knows that only after experiencing such immense pain can it sing the most beautiful songs.

Im thinking, am I willing to be a Thornbird? If I were the Thorn Bird, would I go find the Thorn Tree? I have found the thorn tree. Will I fall on the longest thorn tree?

I dare not say, but I know some people are willing to be Thornbirds, like Thornbirds, leaving us with the best songs.

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 15

I have read Robinson Crusoe, The Education of Love, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes... but what left the deepest impression on me was Thornbird.

There is a legend in the book: there is a thorny bird that has a mission from birth - to search for thorny trees. At the moment of finding the thorny tree, it was about to its body into the longest and sharpest thorn, and sing loudly. At that moment, both the lark and the nightingale dimmed, and the whole world fell silent, even God smiled in the sky. Until it cant sing a single note, anyway that legend is like this.

Afterwards, I finished reading the whole book and my emotions couldnt calm down for a long time. Why did the Thornbird know that it was going to die and even the thorn into its body? I knew that it was to fulfill its mission and fall into the task.

It only sings one song in its lifetime and even dedicates it to people. What a simple, unadorned, and selfless spirit!

We should learn from the Thorn Bird, selflessly dedicate ourselves to everything, and give back everything to our country, society, and our beloved homeland.

There is no quality more important than selfless dedication, it represents the love of human society. Dedication fills our home with love, let this quality continue!

  荆棘鸟英语读后感 16

The first time I saw a withered leaf butterfly was at an exhibition - it was like a withered leaf! The grayish yellow wings, fine veins like veins, and speckled white spots are disguised so vividly! If it werent for the curved antennae and dull eyes on the edge of the "leaf", I couldnt believe it was a butterfly.

Butterfly! Yes, the withered leaf butterfly is also a butterfly. It doesnt have the delicate and beautiful flower like appearance of a butterfly, the graceful and graceful dance of a butterfly, the exquisite and gorgeous wings of a butterfly, the trembling antennae of a butterfly in the wind... It doesnt have everything that a butterfly should have, its just born with such a haggard outfit. It is a butterfly, a butterfly that has lost its beauty.

In order to survive, it would rather float like a gray yellow gourd arc in the dazzling wings of its companions; In order to survive, it would rather fall into a leaf without any beauty in the colorful dance of its companions.

It is very wise, like a hermit in the deep mountains - the deaths of those colorful butterflies are often due to beauty, so it decisively and rationally exchanged beauty for life.

However, when it perches on withered branches, leisurely breathing in the free air, will it miss the once colorful dance of wing shadows, and will a hint of melancholy rise from the bottom of its heart?

The withered leaf butterfly, a scattered and desolate life, has reached the pinnacle of seclusion.
